Sundays on the Boulevard

"Sundays on the Boulevard" are a series of festivals on Douglas Blvd. in North Lawndale, between Central Park Ave. & Lawndale Ave., co-sponsored by the NLCCC GROWSS Committee, Lawndale Pop-Up Spot, Stone Temple Baptist Church, and several other organizations. They take place on Sundays throughout the summer and fall, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., and feature food, music, activities, resources, and much more.

2025 Sundays on the Boulevard

Like last year, there are FIVE Sundays on the Boulevard planned for this year!

June 8: As in past years, we will start things off with Slide into Summer on the second Sunday in June, led by Open Books. This is an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about summer opportunities available to them in Chicago!

June 22: A Taste of Lawndale is our chance to bring many different food vendors to North Lawndale and try out what they have to offer

July 27: Bring your gym clothes! Sports on the Boulevard (led by Urban Initiatives) gives you the opportunity to try your hand at everything from soccer to tennis to rugby to roller skating

August 24: Back to School Lit Fest is our literacy-focused event, with books, reading activites, and all of your back-to-school needs

September 28: We will wrap things up with Animalpalooza, featuring horseback riding, a petting zoo, and resources for your pets!

2024 Sundays on the Boulevard

There will be five Sundays on the Boulevard this year! As in past years, we will start things off with Slide into Summer on the second Sunday in June, led by Open Books. That will be followed by A Taste of Lawndale on June 23, then Sports on the Boulevard on July 28 (with support from the North Lawndale Athletic and Recreation Association and Urban Initiatives), and the popular Back to School Lit Fest on August 25. We will wrap things up with Animalpalooza on September 29.

Note: This year, Sundays on the Boulevard will be a bit shorter, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
